The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) made history last night, becoming the first black thespian to win a Daytime Emmy Award in a lead category.
Plus, Bold And The Beautiful’s (B&B) John McCook (Eric Forrester) won his first Emmy, for Outstanding Lead Actor.
In many other categories, General Hospital (GH) took home the gold. The sudser won Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress, Outstanding Younger Performer, Outstanding Directing and the biggest award of the night, Outstanding Drama. Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) was awarded for Drama Series Writing Team.
Daytime Emmy Awards – McCook Gave Thanks To CBS
GH’s Nicholas Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) won his first Emmy for Outstanding Younger Performer. Kelly Thiebaud (who plays GH’s Britt Westbourne) won for Outstanding Supporting Actress. And Jeff Kober took home the award for Best Supporting Actor. Kober plays GH villain Cyrus Renault.
In a Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony held last weekend, Ted King, who debuted last year as Jack Finnegan on B&B, won the Outstanding Guest Performer award.
McCook thanked his co-stars, specifically Thorsten Kaye, who plays Ridge Forrester. He also said he was grateful to CBS for airing the award ceremony for the second year in a row. “It means so much to us,” he said, in his acceptance speech.

“I am being honored regardless of the color of my skin, regardless of my passport, for being the best at what I do,” Morgan said in her speech.
“Now there are little girls all around the world and they’re seeing another step forward. Not only can they achieve it, but they will be celebrated.”
